The book is about strengthening your will, focus, and mind towards everything you do in your life。 The author explains different breathing exercises and how these exercises help in building mental toughness。 He encourages you to face your fears and push yourself a little more to achieve your goals。

This book is somewhat different than other books in its category which would be enough to merit a listen if it wasn't for the fact that it was highly self-promotional。 I don't like books with trademark sounding buzzwords that are constantly repeated and I hate authors that quote themselves This book is somewhat different than other books in its category which would be enough to merit a listen if it wasn't for the fact that it was highly self-promotional。 I don't like books with trademark sounding buzzwords that are constantly repeated and I hate authors that quote themselves 。。。more

Overall a pretty standard "self-help" book。 Unfortunately the book carries over quite a bit of masculine assumptions, despite claiming it does not。 Lots of "be a wolf not a sheep" style language。 Some good principles to apply, but not anything earth shattering compared to any other "this is how to be successful" book。 Overall a pretty standard "self-help" book。 Unfortunately the book carries over quite a bit of masculine assumptions, despite claiming it does not。 Lots of "be a wolf not a sheep" style language。 Some good principles to apply, but not anything earth shattering compared to any other "this is how to be successful" book。 。。。more

Mark Divine is the real deal。 He's someone who's curiosity drove him to seek out unusual and new methods for peak performance and resiliency。 His personal success in getting through SEAL training proves he's tough, but his reflection as he got away form his "why" and ran a personally disastrous brew-pub is a wonderful lesson for anyone。 His writing style is easy and engaging and has a atakeway for everyone。 I even had my 15 year old son read it over summer break。 Mark Divine is the real deal。 He's someone who's curiosity drove him to seek out unusual and new methods for peak performance and resiliency。 His personal success in getting through SEAL training proves he's tough, but his reflection as he got away form his "why" and ran a personally disastrous brew-pub is a wonderful lesson for anyone。 His writing style is easy and engaging and has a atakeway for everyone。 I even had my 15 year old son read it over summer break。 。。。more

Nice spin on same leadership principles At some point all leadership books sound the same。 They put their own spin on the same principles。 Nothing earthshaking here。 But the key is not to just read about leadership。 It’s to find one that works for you that inspires you to act。 Worth checking out。

I would say if you haven't read a lot of silimar books already, then this one is pretty good。 If you have there won't be much new in here。 I would say if you haven't read a lot of silimar books already, then this one is pretty good。 If you have there won't be much new in here。 。。。more

It is a really cool and informative book。“The “big idea” of this book is that you are capable of so much more than you think you are, but you have been kept in the dark about this potential your entire life。 I call this potential your 20X Factor, in that you are capable of at least twenty times what your current paradigm allows you to believe。 It is not as though your family or our culture purposely kept you in the dark about this important fact。 No, they were ignorant about it as well and can’t It is a really cool and informative book。“The “big idea” of this book is that you are capable of so much more than you think you are, but you have been kept in the dark about this potential your entire life。 I call this potential your 20X Factor, in that you are capable of at least twenty times what your current paradigm allows you to believe。 It is not as though your family or our culture purposely kept you in the dark about this important fact。 No, they were ignorant about it as well and can’t be held to blame。 We cannot ignore this unbelievable truth any longer。 Not only do you deserve to tap into your full potential for your own success and happiness, but our collective minds are needed to sync up like a global crowdsourced network of solution finders to pull us out of the mess we have created。 This book isn’t about those messes, though—there are plenty of authors writing about the perils we face on our abused planet。 No, this book is about how you can begin to tap into that vast potential lying dormant inside of you—so that you can achieve your fullest expression of yourself, help those around you, and send positive ripples throughout the world。” ~ Mark Divine from Unbeatable Mind: Forge Resiliency and Mental Toughness to Succeed at an Elite LevelI think Mark Divine is a real-life superhero。Seriously。I’ve always admired the grit and character of special ops warriors—from the classic Spartan warriors to the modern-day versions: Navy SEALs and Army Rangers and other elite forces。 Mark is a former Navy SEAL and just a good, SOLID guy。I don’t know how else to articulate it。 Strong。 Virtuous。 Committed。 Grounded。 Smart。 Powerful。 Integrated。 A warrior-philosopher。And his book, Unbeatable Mind, is all of those things。If you’d like to, as the subtitle promises and the book delivers, “forge resiliency and mental toughness to succeed at an elite level,” then this book is for you。 Check out Mark and learn more about all his other projects at MarkDivine。com。Below are some of my favorite Big Ideas from this book。 You can hear more about this book here:1。 The First Premise - First, win in your mind。2。 Self-Confidence - Character + skill。3。 Starve Fear, Feed Courage - And bomb the negativity。4。 Concentration - How’s yours?5。 Breath - Awareness + control are key。Here’s to cultivating our Desire + Belief + Attitude + Discipline + Determination as we forge mental toughness and create an uncommon life packed with meaning and profound service。I’ve added Unbeatable Mind: Forge Resiliency and Mental Toughness to Succeed at an Elite Level by Mark Divine to my collection of PhilosophersNotes。 (Which help you change your life, 20-minutes at a time, with the best Big Ideas from 600+ of the best books on Optimizing your life via 6-page PDFs/20-min MP3s on the go!)Get instant (free) access to all 600+ PhilosophersNotes AND all 50 Optimal Living 101 classes AND 1,000+ Optimize +1s as part of our free 2-week trial: http://optimize。me/ 。。。more

Yes - it took me nearly a year because it simply wasn’t engaging enough to keep me reading。 I would read it at work while eating my lunch - a little at a time, if I was in the mood for that style。 Good content, not engaging writing style。 It was work to read it, even though I was interested in the subject。

Not worth the money ;(A few good highlights but nothing exactly new。 Plus the really annoying habit of the author to take 10-15 pages to get to the point sometimes。 Not the first book written by a SEAL in my library so I do have smth to compare against。

A bit different than expected but in a good way Discusses success in mind body and spirit。 A bit of over self promotion for his programs but valuable insight from someone who has done it not just talked about it。

This started off as an interesting read with insights into understanding one's mind and how it works。 Clearly the author has absorbed aspects of various practices and seeks to impart many of these to the reader in a clear and structured way。 Many of these you will have undoubtedly have heard before, nevertheless Devine's instruction is pared with examples and stories to further illustrate his points。I was turned off by a few of his examples as I felt they were fueled by his own personal beliefs This started off as an interesting read with insights into understanding one's mind and how it works。 Clearly the author has absorbed aspects of various practices and seeks to impart many of these to the reader in a clear and structured way。 Many of these you will have undoubtedly have heard before, nevertheless Devine's instruction is pared with examples and stories to further illustrate his points。I was turned off by a few of his examples as I felt they were fueled by his own personal beliefs and bias undermining the value these examples/stories may have provided。 My other challenge while reading were due to numerous grammatical errors。 Was this work proofed by an editor? Finally, references to his accompanying courses/training classes to go deeper were a bit of a turn off。 Almost like an advertisement to spend more to get more。。。It's a decent book if you're starting to explore mindset and building a personal plan to reach your goals。 Otherwise, no true new information here。 。。。more

Quite disappointed in this read。 I was expecting more than the boilerplate narratives。 I have read quite a few books from Tier 1 operators and I would put this one at the bottom。

This book combines several self improvement books into one and is packed with information that will help improve pretty much all areas of your life if implemented and practiced daily。 Really good read。

There are interesting ideas in the book, but nothing new。 It's a mix of oriental mindfulness techniques with a touch of SEAL/military anecdotes。 I looks like the main objective of the book is point readers to seminars and training。 There are interesting ideas in the book, but nothing new。 It's a mix of oriental mindfulness techniques with a touch of SEAL/military anecdotes。 I looks like the main objective of the book is point readers to seminars and training。 。。。more

I really liked this book。Its a very genuine, no holds barred, in your face, wake-up to what you really need to do to toughen up and get on with succeeding。Grit and persistence are part of the formula, but that should come as absolutely no surprise。Personally I find the book very motivating and I'm sure you will too。 I really liked this book。Its a very genuine, no holds barred, in your face, wake-up to what you really need to do to toughen up and get on with succeeding。Grit and persistence are part of the formula, but that should come as absolutely no surprise。Personally I find the book very motivating and I'm sure you will too。 。。。more

The major drawback of this book which is heavily criticized in other reviews amounts to a total lack of professional editing。 One doesn't expect a warrior to be particularly elegant in expressing his thoughts, but one does expect a published book to present a coherent text without an abundance of typos。This lack of editing, I think, is what prevents many people from benefiting from these ideas, which are not - and the author never pretends they are - his original ones。 He has integrated ideas fr The major drawback of this book which is heavily criticized in other reviews amounts to a total lack of professional editing。 One doesn't expect a warrior to be particularly elegant in expressing his thoughts, but one does expect a published book to present a coherent text without an abundance of typos。This lack of editing, I think, is what prevents many people from benefiting from these ideas, which are not - and the author never pretends they are - his original ones。 He has integrated ideas from yoga, martial arts, some modern self-help and popular non-fiction books and - of course - the SEALs - into a sort of practical philosophy, and invites us to either share his version or create our own。Oh, yes, it's mostly to share his version, which some people see as hardcore marketing of his other products, and they have a point here; but nowhere does Divine claim that you can never achieve the same results without his training。Now, as to what's useful in this book, for me personally: simple schemes to achieve complex things, like stop fearing a dreaded event, or accomplish in a certain period much more than one thought one was capable of。 Are those methods a great secret? Nope。 Do we apply them daily to make our lives and the lives of others better? Uhm, not always, maybe? :) So, for me, it's been a valuable instrument of improvement。 。。。more

There is so much relevant and helpful information in this book。While it may appeal to athletes seeking more mental focus, it also has the power to assist in the reflection of good living。 I recommend this to all adults seeking life enrichment。 As a mother of young children, I see the opportunity to apply mental fortitude to parenting and elf improvement。

Mind MattersConverting our consciousness to an awareness that we subconsciously are more influenced than previously understood provides a fascinating predicament for our psyche。 Knowing this overlays a greater level of responsibility in the way we choose to think as well as react toward ourselves and the world around us。

This book works on two levels。。。 Firstly, it falls in the category of Ex-FBI/Ex-CIA/Ex-Soldier (in this case, Navy SEAL) Management Help books (like self help, but for career climbers)。 In this category it is a three star book。 But。 Mental discipline and hygiene books are very hard to find。 Most of them tend to be in fields like Buddhism or Meditation。 In this category, the book is excellent。 Learning how to channel, control and even utilize emotions is a very important skill to have - for SEALS This book works on two levels。。。 Firstly, it falls in the category of Ex-FBI/Ex-CIA/Ex-Soldier (in this case, Navy SEAL) Management Help books (like self help, but for career climbers)。 In this category it is a three star book。 But。 Mental discipline and hygiene books are very hard to find。 Most of them tend to be in fields like Buddhism or Meditation。 In this category, the book is excellent。 Learning how to channel, control and even utilize emotions is a very important skill to have - for SEALS, employees, employers, old people and young people。 Very few guides exist that actually help people train their brain - and this book stands as a beacon for that。 It's about toughness。。。 developing it- as much as using it。 Excellent! 。。。more
